Program Description:
The K – 12 Mathematics Program provides support to all districts and schools to improve student mathematics performance. The program offers professional development and consultation for educators to assist in meeting district level and building level needs in the area of mathematics curriculum development, implementation, and/or evaluation. This professional development includes the alignment of effective instruction with appropriate assessment. The program provides workshops and training on scientifically research based instructional strategies or interventions to improve student learning related to K – 12 mathematics.
Programs Available:
- Lesson Study opportunities for conducting lesson study groups is offered each year in math and science. AEA 9 participates in a Math and Science Partnership grant for support.
- E2T2 Cognitive Tutor project is available for support in AEA 9 districts.
- The Middle School Project for teachers is available that supports development of content knowledge for teachers in math concepts and provides a network for support.
- Reaching the Struggling Learner in Mathematics is available as a staff development project for grades 4-12. An online version is coming soon.
- Assessing Math Concepts training is held each semester for grades K-3.
- Effective Instruction in the Core professional development supports teachers in effective practices for teaching with coaching in math provided.
