TeenScreen is a research-based voluntary screening program to identify students at risk of suicide, depression, and other mental disorders.
The screening program is offered to local high schools with the assistance of AEA staff, school personnel, and community-based mental health professionals. The voluntary screening requires both parent consent and student assent.
TeenScreen does not involve diagnosis or treatment, but rather identifies and connects to local services where students can obtain a complete evaluation by a qualified professional. Treatment decisions, if any, are always left to parents/guardians.
